Bike-friendly Hilton Head is already known for going green, but once a year, the island celebrates the color in a more literal sense. We’re talking about St. Patrick’s Day, of course, and if you can’t be in Ireland, you’ll find plenty of Irish spirit on the island, which is home to the oldest St. Patrick’s Day parade in South Carolina.
But why not start your celebration early? On Friday, March 13 beginning at 5:30 p.m., you can head over to catch the Bluffton St. Patrick’s Sunset Block Party at Oyster Factory Park. Best of all, the event includes live music from The Horan Brothers Band and Chilly Willy Band, featuring our own Jim Hall!
On Sunday, March 15, you and about 25,000 other fun lovers can enjoy the 40th-annual Hilton Head Island St. Patrick’s Day Parade. It kicks off at 2 p.m. and proceeds along Pope Avenue. This award-winning parade has everything from floats to multiple marching bands. You’ll clap, you’ll wave, you’ll have a great time. Just don’t forget to come dressed in green or you might get pinched – apparently, it’s a leprechaun thing.
