If the cold weather has you dreaming of warmer days ahead, we can do even better with a preview of the spring season on Hilton Head Island. First, let’s review average temperatures. In March, Hilton Head experiences lows around 49 degrees and highs around 69. By April, temperatures typically dip to only the mid-50s at night, but during the day, they reach into the mid-70s. As daylight increases, cloudy days decrease so that April brings more sunny days and more hours to enjoy them.

Feeling better already? This is just the beginning of the story that makes Hilton Head the ideal spring break getaway where you’ll enjoy biking to the beach, hitting the trails, and learning to love the outdoors again as you thaw from your winter blues.

The next point is that spring offers the opportunity to see the island in bloom. From bright camellias and sunny daffodils in March to April’s azaleas, Carolina wildflowers and delicate dogwood trees, Hilton Head is bathed in florals throughout the season. You’ll also enjoy the heavenly scents of big magnolia blossoms and sweet jasmine. On the seat of a bike, it feels like cruising through paradise.

There is so much to do in Hilton Head during spring, and the island is generally less crowded than it is during summer. We prefer bike rides over all other activities, and you can enjoy more than 60 miles of bike paths located around the island. On two wheels, you can go almost anywhere – head to the beach, the lighthouse, a museum, or dinner. Speaking of dinner, the Hilton Head Wine & Food Festival springs up each March, offering a perfect way to enjoy the weather.

Additionally, Hilton Head offers many other outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, fishing, and golf. Not only is this island home to more than 20 championship golf courses, but it’s also the host of the RBC Heritage Golf Tournament, which takes place in April.

Families will have no trouble finding island activities for all ages. With the Coastal Discovery Museum, dolphin and pirate tours, The Sandbox Children’s Museum, Gregg Russell Concerts under the Liberty Oak in Harbour Town, and much more, you might find yourself struggling to fit it all in.

But don’t stress! Renting bikes is a sure way to make the vacation easy. You won’t need to haul multiple bikes to the island, and our bike rentals are able to accommodate everyone in the family. We even offer cruisers and e-bikes in various sizes, as well as bike accessories like child seats, trailers, and perfectly sized helmets.

To recap, there is so much to do, and there are so many places to ride. It’s not too hot, and it’s definitely not too cold. In fact, you’ll find that spring break in Hilton Head is just right.
