Hilton Head’s Walkable, Bikeable Charm
December 3, 2025There is no question that this island is beautiful by day, especially when bathed in sunshine. But there are also times to celebrate the night sky, and one of those times is coming up soon. We’re referring to the annual Hilton Head Island Lantern Parade, which takes place on Saturday, Nov. 22 this year.
Featuring hundreds of lanterns in a myriad of colors and shapes created for this special event by local community members, along with those by lantern artist Chantelle Rytter, the event offers an opportunity to bring warm, glowing light to a late fall evening.
Like a lot of popular outdoor events, parking to watch or take part in the parade can be challenging. So Jim has put together some ideas that will help you make this year’s Lantern Parade experience the most dazzling ever.
First of all, get to the parade on Coligny Beach on two wheels – rent an e-bike with headlights or buy headlights for your own bike at our shop. This will solve your vehicle parking challenge and keep you rolling safely into the night.
To kick off your evening, why not head to the Tiki Hut for a cocktail? You can even stay put and watch the parade from there.
The Lantern Parade festivities include four bands this year, and Jim recommends expanding your musical enjoyment by also heading to The Sandbar, FISH, or the Big Bamboo Café for a variety of live performances. Or you keep your celebration going at the Tiki Hut, where you’ll find live music in addition to cocktails and excellent lantern viewing.
Finally, if you want to scale up your Lantern Parade experience this year, Jim recommends securing a reservation at The Sage Room, where you’ll find elegant fare inspired by global cuisine.
However you decide to enjoy the parade, the most important thing is not to miss it! The lineup starts at 4:45 p.m. and the parade begins just after sunset at 5:30 p.m.
