Celebrate Independence Day on Hilton Head Island
June 22, 2026Few people have become as woven into the fabric of Hilton Head Island as Gregg Russell. For generations of residents and visitors alike, his music has been a soundtrack to family vacations, summer evenings, and cherished island memories. That’s why it came as welcome news when he was recently inducted into the Hilton Head Island Hall of Fame.
Created by the Rotary Club of Hilton Head, the Hall of Fame recognizes individuals whose contributions have helped shape the island into the community it is today. This year, honorees were celebrated as “Pillars” for their lasting impact and dedication to Hilton Head Island.
Gregg’s influence certainly fits that description. For more than 40 years, he has entertained audiences with his signature blend of music, audience participation, and family-friendly fun. His performances beneath the Liberty Oak in Harbour Town have become a beloved island tradition, drawing visitors back year after year.
Many families have made Gregg Russell concerts part of their Hilton Head experience across multiple generations. Parents who attended shows as children now bring their own kids and sometimes even grandchildren to sing along, play games, and enjoy an evening under the iconic oak tree.
Whether performing during the busy summer season or returning for special holiday appearances, Gregg continues to create the kind of memories that keep people coming back to Hilton Head Island.
We extend our congratulations to Gregg and all this year’s Hall of Fame Pillars. Their dedication, leadership, and service have helped make Hilton Head Island a wonderful place to live, visit, and explore on two wheels.
